Seminar Discussion Guide
The Seminar Discussion Guide is available as a free bonus to groups of 5 or more registrants. The Guide was developed as a companion to the Web course for use with groups of participants, either in professional or classroom settings. It includes three (and possibly four) sessions in which participants can apply what they learn in the Web course to specific case situations. Case material related to both children and adults with developmental disabilities is provided. Each session includes learning objectives, instructions, methods, materials, and handouts.
Seminar 1. Identifying Abuse and Neglect
- Two cases and discussion questions are provided, one case related to a child with disabilities, the other related to an adult with developmental disabilities, who may have been maltreated.
Seminar 2. Reporting Suspected Abuse and Neglect
- Discussion questions are provided for the role-play demonstration from Communicating the Need for Referral of Suspected Child Abuse, shown in Module 11, Reporting Abuse and Neglect.
- Two case situations with scripted roles and instructions for conducting role-play are provided.
- Note: These materials can be used for two separate sessions, if desired.
Seminar 3. Case Forum
- This seminar provides an opportunity for participants to discuss their own cases with the group.
